Intellectual Death

John 5:39-40

Let me start with a quote from John MacArthur: “Merely knowing the facts of Scripture, without fully embracing them in the heart and acting on them, will not bring the blessings of salvation.”

Do you agree or disagree?

I for one, agree. The knowledge of scripture is a mere intellectual pursuit until it is believed and accepted. Then and only then does it become the power of Christ unto salvation (Romans 1:16). There is such a desperate attempt to separate works from salvation, to prove that works don’t earn salvation, that we have made excuses to not work. There is a clear and undeniable mandate that the believer must evidence works or his/her salvation is false. Yes, if there are no works to evidence your “salvation” then there is only an intellectual acceptance of scripture and not a love for God.

James and John (epistles) are clear on this (James 2:17-26; 1 John 2:3-5). Jesus rebuked people and plants that did not produce true Fruit. Hell is full of peoples works, works of self-righteousness. Heaven is gained by Grace through Faith, but every person in the Lambs book of Life HAS works that result from their belief and acceptance of the Word of God as it pertains to Sin, Confession, Belief, and Jesus as the Son of God.

The Bema Seat itself is to “judge” our works(2 Corinthians 5:10). Jesus rebuked the disciples because they could not stay awake long enough to Pray. The Apostles were equipped to perform acts to validate the message they delivered.

When you arrive what will you have with you? Not your car, not your house, not your wallet. You will have your works! Will you stand on your own merit or the imputed Righteousness of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21)?

Love y’all

We will be attempting our 2nd trip to Tennessee this coming week. Pray for success please and come to support Chris as he delivers the Word of God this Sunday morning.
